ABOUT THE ARTISTMy name is Annie Nicholson, I am a Shropshire based stop motion animator and textile artist.I began animating on my bedroom floor with puppets made from scrap T-shirts and kebab sticks that evolved to making my own film throughout the summers of 2014 - 2016. This hobbyist dabbling grew to a polished and stylized profession that includes my bespoke knitted and crochet designs.After University, I worked at a marshmallow factory in Lincolnshire and continued animating as a freelancer.
In 2024, I moved to Shropshire where I began my distinct handmade line of crochet cryptids and little creatures from my favourite myths and legends.My puppetry combines highly detailed character designs with the simplicity of traditional marionettes, delicately moulding paper Mache and glue to sculp faces and claws.
